Mentors who give back to our country, and our kids as well

November is a month for paying tribute to those who have served or are still serving in our military as we celebrate Veterans Day.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware we are proud to salute two of our mentors who are not only heroes in our country but are heroes to their “Little” Brother and “Little” Sister in our program.    more

Big and Little bond over sports talk

Wednesdays are special for Tyjhir – That's the day that the third-grader gets a visit [at his elementary school] from Mr. Don, his Big Brother.

Wednesdays are also special for Harrington resident Don Lanspery, as he arrives at Tyjhir's school to spend about an hour of one-on-one time, talking sports, guy stuff, and maybe even some academics.   more

Barbara and Rafael

In 1995, Rafael was an eight-year-old boy who had just moved to Delaware from Mexico. Rafael spoke limited English and had a hard time adjusting to his new surroundings. He needed extra help in English ... Soon after, Rafael was matched with a Big Sister.   more
